A trio of thieves who swiped wallets from vehicles in Melbourne Beach went on a beer-cigarette-gasoline shopping spree in Melbourne and Palm Bay.

But police hope surveillance photos of their distinctive gray Ford “dually” pickup truck will lead to their identification and arrest.

The smash-and-grab bandits broke into parked vehicles June 18 at the Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue beach accesses off of State Road A1A, Melbourne Beach Police Det. Sgt. Melanie Griswold said.

“The owners of these vehicles were down on the beach enjoying their day — and when they returned to their car, they found their wallets and credit cards were stolen,” Griswold said. “This is usually the time of year these types of crimes occur because of summer break, holiday weekends and the weather.”

The suspects used the stolen credit cards at several gas stations and Wal-Wart. Surveillance photos show:

A shirtless white man in his early 20s with thin build, goatee and thin beard. Police estimate he stands 5 feet, 10 inches, to 6 feet tall. He has a full “sleeve” tattoo on his right arm and partial tattoos on left arm, and he wore a camouflage baseball cap, with dark-colored Nike sneakers and white-rimmed glasses.

A white woman in her early 20s who stands 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches, and has a thick build and long brown hair. She wore a light teal dress.

A white man in his 40s or 50s with medium build. He stands about 5 feet, 10 inches, and wore a dark baseball cap, dark-colored shirt and shorts.

Their vehicle was a gray 1999-2001 Ford extended-cab pickup truck with four rear wheels and an aluminum diamond-plate toolbox in the bed.

Melbourne Beach police ask witnesses to call Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. Anonymous tips leading to a felony arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
