Four people may need an attorney following 4th of July grill explosion
While celebrating the 4th of July in Hialeah Gardens, four people were gravely wounded when a faulty propane tank being used to grill food exploded. The injured parties, which included the homeowner, may have cause to speak to a Miami personal injury attorney, if the leak was caused by manufacturer or installer error.
According to reports, the four men who were injured had to be airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment. One was critically injured, but it was believed that all four would survive. The local NBC affiliate reported that all men suffered burns to their lower extremities, while one also received burns to his upper body.
The explosion occurred during a backyard party on the 9800 block of Northwest 135th Street. The Miami Herald reported that the tank was not attached to a conventional grill, but a custom brick model. It was unclear whether it had been professionally installed or built by the homeowner.
If the homeowner built the faulty grill himself, he could be liable for the other men’s injuries – but if a professional installed the model, all four injured individuals may have grounds to sue.
