Family members identify victim as 46-year-old father of 2
WESTON, Fla. – Authorities responded to a lake in Weston early Sunday morning and upon arrival began a death investigation after a body was found in the water.
The scene is located just south of I-75, off Bonaventure Boulevard and Racquet Club Road in Weston.
Family members identified the victim as 46-year-old Jermaine Jones, a father of two. His brother told Local 10 News’ Bridgette Matter that Jones was at his home Friday and left on the three-wheeled motorcycle.
Authorities were observed removing a red, three-wheel motorcycle from the water.
A spokesperson for the Broward Sheriff’s Office said they received the call at approximately 7:39 a.m.
It appears the body was discovered by someone who was walking around the lake.
That woman declined to speak to Local 10 News’ Trent Kelly on camera, but she said she did call 911 as soon as she saw the body.
Deputies and members of the BSO Dive Team quickly arrived and found an unresponsive man in the water. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have yet to identify the body and are working to discover how exactly he ended up in the lake.
As a result of the investigation, deputies blocked traffic in both directions along Bonaventure Boulevard Sunday morning.
