SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. – Six months after an 11-year-old boy died after being struck in a crosswalk by a red-light driver, the case is closed, and the boy’s family is working to change the law.
Anthony Reznik was on the marked crosswalk on Sunny Isles Boulevard when Samentha Toussaint, who was driving a red Mercedes-Benz, ran a red light, police said.

MIAMI – City of Miami firefighters were called to a car dealership Tuesday morning after three vehicles caught fire.
Lt. Pete Sanchez, of City of Miami Fire Rescue, said a passerby called 911 around 5:30 a.m. to report the incident at the car dealership at 3160 SW Eighth St. in Little Havana.
He said firefighters arrived at the scene to find three vehicles that were completely engulfed in flames.

MIAMI – An 82-year-old South Florida woman is continuing to fight foreclosure.
A final 24-hour eviction notice was placed on Ana Rodriguez’s door on Sunday. She is a former Cuban political prisoner.
“When I saw the eviction, I feel it was so cruel to do that in this day,” Rodriguez said during a press conference on Sunday.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Late Thursday night, Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett released a copy of the letter that he said was sent to the tenants who live in the four-story building he owns in Miami Beach.
Burkett is giving the tenants 45 days to vacate the units at The Lois Apartments, at 2001 Bay Dr., in the Isle of Normandy, so much-needed construction can begin.
