FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A South Florida mother is behind bars two years after her toddler died from a suspected fentanyl overdose.
That mother, 27-year-old Gertrude Desir, is now facing several charges, including aggravated manslaughter.
Desir appeared in court Friday as a judge read her charges, which included drug possession.
In 2019, Desir’s 2-year-old son was found dead inside her Pompano Beach home.

WESTON, Fla. – Authorities responded to a lake in Weston early Sunday morning and upon arrival began a death investigation after a body was found in the water.

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Police in Florida say a 24-year-old man told police he lured his mother to his apartment, where he beat her with a hammer before fatally stabbing her.
Logan Lopez told Clearwater police officers Saturday that he’d planned the killing for a year.
