Body of missing jet skier found, FWC says

MIAMI – The body of a 46-year-old man last seen on a personal watercraft Saturday in Miami was recovered Monday, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Lorenzo Veloz said.

Officials with the FWC said Jose Montes de Oca was test-driving the jet ski when he was reported missing about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Miami-Dade police had their helicopter in the air searching Blue Lagoon Lake behind Antonio Maceo Park. Miami Fire Rescue had search boats on the water Saturday night and authorities said divers were in the water as well.

The jet ski was found in some trees Saturday night but Montes de Oca was nowhere to be found.

Authorities said Montes de Oca was wearing a pacemaker at the time, but it’s unclear what happened on the water.
