Cop accidentally fires rifle while in courthouse, in front of judge

At an arraignment hearing, a Miami criminal defense attorney can enter a plea on your behalf.

A police officer accidentally fired a rifle in front of a judge during a training exercise Wednesday morning in a hallway outside a South Florida courtroom. The bullet from Miami-Dade officer’s department-issued AR-15 went into the floor and no one was hurt, CBS Miami reports. The incident took place at about 10:30 a.m., on the 30th floor of the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse as the officer was demonstrating a scenario to the judge, the article says. Neither the officer nor the judge is identified in news coverage. The police department declined to comment while an internal affairs investigation is proceeding, WSVN reports. Because the officer was at the courthouse on official business, he was allowed to have the rifle there, CBS Miami says.
