Coral Gables home invasion suspects arrested; one accused of stealing Aston Martin – Coral Gables – MiamiHerald.com

Two suspects accused of tying up a Coral Gables mansion owner and stealing her Aston Martin have been arrested, Coral Gables police said Thursday.

“This was not a random act,” Coral Gables police Officer Dean Wellinghoff said. “But rather a crime committed by individuals known to the victim.”

He did not disclose their exact relationship to the victim.

This is what police said happened:

The suspects, Zuhdi and Rosa Maria Musa, drove to Gables Estates in an orange Scion a little after 11 p.m. on Sept. 26. They headed to 110 Arvida Parkway.

Zuhdi Musa walked up to the front door, put a mask over his head, and walked in.

He headed upstairs to the master bedroom where he went through a couple of dressers. Then he made his way into the billiard room downstairs.

That’s where he ran into the victim walking out of the bathroom.

Musa quickly pointed his gun at her and told her to hit the floor. He tied her arms and legs and taped her mouth shut.

Then he helped himself to the heart-shaped diamond necklace and two matching diamond earrings she was wearing — a $400,000 value.

Inside her purse, he found another $400,000 and the keys to her $200,000 Aston Martin, according to the police report.

He headed to the garage, got inside the luxury car but couldn’t start it.

So he went back to the billiard room, peeled off the tape from the victim’s mouth, and asked her how to start the car.

A little after 11:30 p.m., he was gone.

The following morning, with most of the Coral Gables Police Department after him, he ditched the car.

On Thursday, a week after the break-in, he and his wife were charged with armed burglary with an assault and armed grand theft.

Zuhdi Musa was being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
