Elderly Man Dead, Woman Injured in Miami Stabbing
Unfortunately, in another incident of violent crime, an elderly man is dead and a woman is in critical condition at Ryder Trauma Center after being stabbed at a Miami apartment complex on Wednesday morning.Police have not released the identity of the victims. The stabbing occurred at the apartment building located at 1559 North River Drive.
Apartment building owners have a legal duty to provide adequate security for their residents and guests in order to prevent foreseeable violent crimes. If there had been criminal activity in that area in the past, then the landlord should have anticipated future criminal activity and taken steps to implement reasonable security measures. If they did not, they can be held liable in a civil wrongful death case based on negligent security and a court can require them to pay compensation to the family of the man who was killed as well as to the injured woman.
