Florida Man Arrested for DUI Said He Was Trying to “Drive it Off” : Cops

A Florida man who busted for DUI admitted he had been drinking and was trying to “drive it off,” authorities said.

Michael Moore, 61, was arrested in Stuart back on Feb. 13 after an officer spotted him speeding on SE Federal Highway, according to a Stuart Police report obtained by TCPalm.com.

When the officer pulled Moore over, he could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage and noticed Moore’s speech was slurred, the report said.

Moore told the officer he had gotten into an argument with his wife and left to take a drive. He admitted he’d had a couple drinks and said he was on his way to the bar to have a few drinks. But what he said next probably didn’t sit too well with the officer.

“He also told me that his wife told him that he had been drinking too much so he decided to go out and ‘drive it off,'” the officer wrote in the report.

Moore failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of .104 and .103, the report said. Florida’s legal limit is .08.

He was booked into jail and later released on bond.
