Jacksonville mom arrested for child neglect after infant son’s death
A northeast Florida mother has been charged with child neglect after the death of her 2-month-old son.
The child died in August after Biance Gari-Ann Collins left the infant and a 1-year-old in the care of her 10-year-old son.
The Florida Times-Union reports that Collins was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of child neglect.
Police found the boy dead on a sofa after his brother called their baby sitter to say the infant was not breathing.
Collins told police she couldn’t afford to miss work.
Investigators say she left the child on her sofa, face down, which was a factor in his death.
