If you or someone you love is facing criminal charges, a Miami criminal defense attorney can help.

In a double whammy for a man allegedly involved in a road rage incident Tuesday evening, police in Gainesville, Florida, said Joseph H. Carl, 48, was charged with drunken-driving after being run over by his own pickup truck.

The incident was sparked when Carl rear-ended a vehicle stopped at a traffic light shortly before 7 p.m., a police report said. Carl is accused of exiting the Dodge 1500 and banging on the driver’s-side window of the other vehicle. Apparently, he forgot to put the truck in park and when the woman drove away it rolled toward him and ran over him, reports the Gainesville Sun.

He refused medical treatment and declined to give a breath sample at the scene but failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Subsequently treated for foot and hand fractures at UF Health Shands Hospital he was found to have a .22 blood-alcohol level, nearly triple the state’s legal limit.

Carl was charged with driving under the influence and DUI involving property damage.
