Man shot and killed outside his Miramar home, shooters at large

MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) — Police are looking for the person responsible for a fatal shooting in Miramar that happened early Thursday morning.

According to officials, the shooting happened outside of the victim’s home along Everglades Drive and Indigo Street. He has been identified as 28-year-old Darcy Jenkins Jr., who went by the nickname “Bo.”

Witnesses said it was about 2:30 a.m. when they heard about seven gunshots fired. Jenkins, a father of three died on the scene.

Jenkins worked at his father’s Bar-B-Que Ribs Chicken & Jerk Shack, located on Northwest 27th Avenue in Northwest Miami-Dade. Jenkins’ wife, Nikeya Jenkins, an officer with the Opa-locka Police Department, said her husband was coming home from work when he was ambushed. “I don’t know who killed my husband, but someone followed him home from work, and they gunned him down like a dog,” she said. “He has no enemies. He bothers no one. He doesn’t have these type of issues. He stays to himself. I don’t know what happened. I’m living a nightmare.”

Friends describe Jenkins as a family man. “He’s a good dude,” said Michael, a friend of Jenkins. “He’s a family man. He has three kids. He does everything for his kids. He’s a hard working dude. He settled down with a police officer. He was doing it right. He was on the right track.”

His wife said Jenkins was a very loved person, and his family will love him for eternity. “I will not rest until I find out who killed my husband,” she said.

The gunmen fled the scene, and Police are now asking for the public’s help.
