Man shot, killed driving on I-395 in downtown Miami. Parts of the interstate are shutdown
Source: Miami Herald
Police have shut down parts of Interstate 395 in downtown Miami early Friday as they continue to investigate a deadly overnight shooting that left a man dead inside his car along the interstate.
The man was driving west on I-395 in the area of Biscayne Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. Thursday when someone shot at his white Range Rover SUV multiple times, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The man died in the car from his injuries. His identity will not be disclosed until his family is notified.
The interstate is shutdown between Biscayne Boulevard and I-95 in both directions and is causing heavy traffic delays in the area Friday morning. Drivers should seek alternate routes. Helicopter video taken by Total Traffic Miami shows investigators examining the badly damaged car, which crashed against a railing.
Just before 10 p.m. Thursday, videos posted on Twitter showed several police cruisers race onto I-395 West near the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts at 1300 Biscayne Blvd.
Florida Highway Patrol says it is assisting Miami police in the investigation. No other information was immediately available.
