Man, woman arrested after road rage incident leads to shooting, crash
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A man and a woman were arrested Monday night after a road rage incident led to a shooting and a crash in Broward County, authorities confirmed Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, the road rage incident on Interstate 95 near Pembroke Road occurred shortly after 9 p.m.
Police said the incident led to someone inside a gray BMW firing shots into the air once they had driven into the city of Hollywood.
Authorities said the driver of the BMW continued on into Hallandale Beach and was seen running red lights before crashing into two people who were riding a scooter on Southwest Sixth Avenue and First Street.
Police said a man and a woman jumped out of the car, but were later detained.
At one point, a police helicopter was over the area, shining a spotlight as officers searched for the suspects.
Canine units were also called to the scene.
The suspects were identified as Janiya Bell, 21, and Shawn Adams, 30. A third woman inside the vehicle who remained at the scene was not arrested.
Authorities said a bag had been thrown from the car earlier, which contained a loaded gun.
The incident has led to three separate law enforcement investigations. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the initial road rage incident, Hollywood police are investigating the shooting and Hallandale Beach police are investigating the crash.
The victims’ conditions were not immediately released.
