Man and Woman Killed in Double Shooting in Little Haiti

A man and woman were killed in a drive-by shooting in Little Haiti Wednesday morning, police said.

The shooting happened around 1:40 a.m. outside a home in the 100 block of Northeast 63rd Street, Miami Police said.

It appears that the man was shot while he was sitting inside a car, which was found riddled with bullets. The woman, who was shot outside the car, tried to run for her life but collapsed, police said.

The man was killed at the scene, while the woman was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in extremely critical condition, police said. Family members identified the woman as 19-year-old Wilneka Pennyman. The other victim hasn’t been identified.

Family members said Pennyman died at the hospital from her injuries.

A dark colored older model vehicle with a shattered window was seen fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed, police said. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
