Adam Drucker, 17, was arrested Wednesday for a March 23 accident that killed 64-year-old Camil Peterson, of Pompano Beach. The North Broward Preparatory School student told an officer he was driving high on marijuana at the time of the crash, according to a Boca Raton police arrest report. A blood test later confirmed that.
Then 16, Drucker was driving two friends to the beach when he pulled out a marijuana cigarette and two of them smoked in the 2008 Infiniti.
Shortly after 1:15 p.m., Drucker was looking for a parking spot on Palmetto Park Road and made a U-turn, crashing into the Harley Davidson driven by Peterson. Witnesses told police Peterson was tossed into the air, landed on his head and rolled to a stop in the roadway, according to the report. He was not wearing a helmet.
Peterson was taken to Delray Medical Center in serious condition, where he later died.
Thursday morning, Drucker was being held in Palm Beach County Jail on $50,000 bail.
