Robber Posed As UPS Driver in $1 Million Miami Jewelry Heist
Authorities are searching for an armed thief who posed as a delivery man during a $1 million jewelry heist at a store in Miami.
The robbery happened the evening of Jan. 19 at Time Boutique Jewelers Inc. at 24 Northeast 1st Street, Miami Police officials said.
According to police, the owner of the business said he was preparing to close for the day when he noticed a man at the door who appeared to be dressed as a UPS driver and was carrying a box.
The owner buzzed the man in and quickly had a gun pointed at him. The thief forced the owner to walk to the rear of the business and open the safe, which contained about $1 million worth of jewelry, police said.
The gunman ordered the owner to lay on the ground and hit him in the head with his gun then tied the owner’s hands and feet together and placed tape over his mouth. The suspect fled the scene, and was captured on surveillance cameras. Miami Fire Rescue treated the owner at the scene.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
