Suspects in laundromat robbery and shooting in Miami

On Sunday, May 12, a man was shot during a robbery outside a laundromat in Allapattah, and remains in extremely critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

According to NBC 6 South Florida, the unidentified victim was standing near his black Ford F-150 pickup truck at around 7 p.m. when three men approached him and stole a gold chain from off of his neck before shooting him.

“They basically beat the man up to steal his chain,” Maria Lopez, who witnessed the incident, told the media outlet. “After the man was on the floor, they just took the gun and shot him in the stomach.”

The suspects – who witnesses describe as one Hispanic man and two black men, according to WKMG Local 6 News – fled the scene of the crime, and law enforcement officials said they are unsure if they had a getaway car or left on foot.

“He comes here every week, he washes clothes. It’s just very shocking,” said Rigo Diaz, the owner of the laundromat.
