Sweetwater police arrest man accused of stabbing father

SWEETWATER, Fla. – Sweetwater police arrested a man Wednesday after he stabbed his father multiple times and then fled in a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

Roberto Hernandez, 28, faces multiple charges, including grand theft auto, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and attempted felony murder.

According to detectives, Hernandez was found about 12 hours after the attack at a known crack house in Liberty City.

Police said the stolen car was also recovered at the home.

“I would like to thank the Miami-Dade Police Department for their teamwork in helping us apprehend the subject, as well as the School Board police officer who found the vehicle. This was a job well done by our police officers and collaborating departments,” Sweetwater Police Chief Placido Diaz said.

Hernandez’s father is in an area hospital recovering from his injuries. He is listed in stable condition.
