SURFSIDE, Fla. – Tourists visiting South Florida were robbed in broad daylight, ambushed by thieves who followed them to a Publix supermarket.
At the scene, shattered glass from a broken car window tells part of the story a shocking jewelry robbery.
“A lot of time these crooks are brazen, they don’t play by any rules,” said Surfside Police Sgt. Jay Matelis. “If they see an opportunity they will take it.”

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – Opa-locka police swarmed a neighborhood late Wednesday night, responding to a possible shooting.
It happened shortly before 11 p.m. near Ahmad Street and Dunad Avenue.

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A Pembroke Pines college student is facing charges for reckless driving, after being pulled over near the University of Florida for traveling at 116 mph.
According to his traffic citation, Joseph D’ Andre Melhado, 20, was pulled over by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper while driving his white BMW at a high rate of speed on I-75 at the end of August.
