Teen mother arrested on child neglect charges
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested a teenage mother after finding her young son in a home containing drug paraphernalia and no running water or electricity.
Brittany Michelle Postell, 18, was charged with child neglect with great bodily harm following her arrest Sunday.
Deputies claim the 3-year-old boy was left in the care of Postell’s 15-year-old sister and was completely filthy and had several rashes throughout his body. They added that it was apparent that he had not been bathed in several days.
Deputies believe that the boy had not eaten in an undetermined amount of time.
The report also states that the home was in disarray and had no running water, electricity and was infested with flies.
The boy was left alone with three other adults who police say were under the influence of some type of narcotics.
After police investigated the home, Postell was found two blocks away with some friends and placed under arrest.
