MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The mother of Nubia Barahona, a young girl who died in the custody of her adoptive parents in a grisly torture case that made national headlines, has pleaded guilty, nine years after the crime, according to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.
Carmen Barahona, 69, will receive a life prison sentence in exchange for testimony against her husband, Jorge.

HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) – One of two men, shot multiple times outside a Homestead nightclub, has died. Friends identified the victim to CBS4 News as 19-year-old Justin Garcia of Homestead.
A witness tells CBS4 News the shooting took place outside of the El Diamante nightclub and bar, located at 1245 NE 8th Street.
That witness says he heard between 15 to 20 shots fired and saw one of the victims had been shot multiple times.

LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) — A woman is in critical condition after she was shot at a Lauderhill Apartment complex.
Police say an officer on patrol heard gunshots coming from the Waterford Park Apartments where officers located a woman in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. She’d been shot multiple times.

MIAMI – A violent two-vehicle crash in Miami sent two people to the hospital Thursday morning, one of whom was transported as a trauma alert.
Crime scene tape surrounded the scene near the intersection of Northwest 29th Street and 10th Avenue.
One of the cars came to a stop after flipping over.

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) - Four people have been transported to the hospital following a fiery crash in Miami Gardens.
The crash took place near the Chef Creole restaurant along the 20000 block of Northwest Second Avenue, Wednesday night.
According to witnesses, a white Ford Mustang and a black Mercedes-Benz collided. The Mustang flipped, they said, and immediately sparked flames.
